Positive Linking eZine: June 22, 2018
Volume 175 | 22 June 2018
Hello there %$firstname$%,
Can you believe we’re close to the end of the first half of 2018 already? It has felt accelerated, certainly here at Sparkle Central, with a lot of personal shifts happening in my and Snowy’s worlds, with client commitments and rollercoaster developments and with my 2nd book well and truly in the mix!
It’s interesting to look at where you’re at with what you had planned for 2018 and then compare it with what’s happened. Together with my private mentorship clients, I always take time to set intentions at the beginning of the year and have a Vision Board which reflects them in my eyeline. At the beginning of 2018 I had put “My 2nd book is written and I enjoyed the process. Starve your distractions and feed your focus Kay” on my Board. It is – and I have enjoyed, and am enjoying, the process.
That’s just one of many examples either ‘done’ or in the mix. Seeing it every day, noticing the pictures of places, things, people (our close family included) which are on our 2018 goals, if you will, definitely makes a difference.
There is, of course, what you plan and then there’s what happens and they’re rarely exactly the same %$firstname$%. Differences in focus show themselves, other more important goals seem more relevant and yet, at the heart of it all is what you want to make happen and why. My 2nd book is part legacy – it truly is written from my heart and is, I believe timeless advice, principles, stories and strategies – and is part Handbook, if you will, and with laser-like focus on supporting career women to take positive, purposeful steps in their career right now. And to keep going. Drive, don’t be a passenger in your career. I’m excited (and not just a little nervous) to bring it to life.
Oh, and seeing my niece, nephew and sister last week and then celebrating my birthday last weekend (as I said “30 years old with an added 20+ years experience) I took time to hang out with Snowy and a couple of dear friends. para
With another friend very close to dying in her early 30s, I’m so grateful for the time I have…and we never know how much that is %$firstname$%, do we? Use it well and use it for good, that’s been my driver this year.
Thank you for taking the time to read this eZine as I’m sure you have so much vying for your attention. I hope the ideas and suggestions help you reflect and to show up, sparkle and be heard even more at work. There’s no time to do this like the present which is, after all, all we have guaranteed…
Warm and ever-sparkly wishes %$firstname$%,
Let’s connect even more
PS – Oscar Wilde said it best, %$firstname$% when he said “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” Enough said.
Now it’s finished, here comes the Cover design part….
As I’ve been reviewing and editing my book I’ve experienced this sense of surprise as I don’t remember writing certain things I’ve written! The book focusses on a continuous Career Success Cycle which supports progress for ambitious career women and I’m so excited to bring it to life for you! I wish I’d had this guide myself, back in the day of my own corporate career.
It can be lonely and frustrating trying to work out your best moves and strategies by yourself. My new book is designed to be a torchlight to guide you.
The Official Book Launch Party in London is booked and confirmed for the evening of
Thursday 4th October I’d LOVE you to be there- just jot the date for now and it will be in London, in the City.
“This book is a must-read for you if you know you can do so much more with your career than you’re currently doing. Let Kay White’s proven guidance, strategies and stories be your torch when sometimes it’s too murky to see where you’re going and everything she offers you works and comes from her experience and her heart.
Put yourself in the driving seat of your career.”

Worthiness – Your Sense of Being Enough
“You are enough.” ~ The Universe
This is one of those words, worthy, which can set your teeth jangling.
Am I worthy of this? Who am I to be worthy or deserving of doing this or of having this? It’s a self-reflection moment and a decision that you make for you all about you. Being enough. Smart enough, experienced enough, clever enough, fun enough, kind enough and so it goes.
Worthiness is a tricky one to measure because it’s often a sense you have and no one sits you down and tells you – and even if they do, you don’t believe them. If you say to yourself “I don’t deserve this” or “people will think I’m too big for my boots if…” then this is where your worthiness muscle needs exercising, strengthening.
At the root of worthiness is how comfortable and how deserving you feel for what you attract and make happen in your life, good or not so good. To understand your own sense of worthiness and deserving is to be able to ask yourself “Who, if not me?” and “If not me, why someone else?”
You’ll often find there isn’t anyone else you know who should be doing or contributing or handling what you are, it’s just you need to get used to the feeling. The sense of it. The sense of you being enough, more than enough, to handle it. Imperfections and all.
You are already enough. Now, decide to believe it and act on it. That’s where the magic is!

“I thought I had to know all the answers”
Nisha P and I started working together when she was first appointed to the Senior Management Team of a large public organisation. Her boss wanted her to become more assertive and more comfortable about her decisions to enable her to delegate more. Projects were being held up and deadlines missed as she felt she had to keep referring things upwards or sit on them to make the ‘right’ decisions.
“The key for me is Kay showing me how to and when to ask better questions and to know it’s OK to “not know” or be a bit confused at times. Now I just ask another question and I listen closely. I thought I had to know all the answers straight away once I was promoted. I don’t worry so much now and this makes me feel much more at ease. It’s much more comfortable now being out of my comfort zone. I’m enjoying the managerial side to my job now as I’m starting to get results where before I was struggling.”

I want to recommend a book written by a friend of mine, Chelsea Berler. Chelsea started a little marketing agency called Solamar and then grew it, intentionally and carefully, to a 7-figure business and Solamar have looked after the ‘behind the scenes’ of my business since 2011.
Here’s the kicker and something I struggle to get my head around.
Chelsea is close to dying right now. From terminal cancer. And yet, through all that she’s been through she kept herself upbeat, positive and contributing – she started a Foundation to help others having cancer treatment and, during her final months, she’s written a book. I mean, talk about commitment and contribution %$firstname$%.
Every page reflects the bright light that Chelsea shone wherever she was and I recommend it to you if you want to give yourself a boost of positivity and hope and that sense of grace-under-fire. All proceeds from the book go to Chelsea’s Foye Belle Foundation (the name of her granny who also died of the disease).
Savvy Style & Sparkle Soundbite
A simple, heartfelt Thank You works
This is going to sound obvious to you. Thank you.
Thanking people for taking time for you, for giving you input, for sending you a card or a note which lifted your spirits. Popping a note to people is underestimated and an energetically strong thing to do.
I believe it’s a reflection on you and the depth of your appreciation if you take 2 minutes to write a quick note (and email is good enough, a posted note even better) rather than just assume people know you’re grateful. They don’t.
After so much input and support writing my 2nd book, I have a BIG list of Thank You notes which will be winging their way in the post and, following a lovely birthday weekend full or pressies and surprises, the same.
