Buckle Up

Talk about being on a rollercoaster recently!

As Jeffrey, our precious Beddlington Whippet who had a ‘broken heart’ (and has had 2 life-saving ops) was recovering, it was discovered he had a blood clot in his leg.

After heart surgery this is not uncommon but unwelcome.  He immediately went on to clot-busting drugs and we immediately took sharp intakes of breath, again.

Happily , the clot dispersed and he’s still (12 days later) being monitored in vet hospital.

There are only 2 places in the World offering the kind of surgery Jeffrey’s had.

Cambridge (an hour from where we live) and Tokyo (many hours from where we live).

Aren’t we lucky it is where it is and we are where we are?

What I’ve learned during this time is the need to stay loose – to buckle up for a bumpy ride, knowing things will always come up (for the op and in our life between times) but the imaginary seatbelt has meant we’ve stayed loose AND prepared ourselves and others and

  • cancelled or rescheduled many things
  • put people on ‘alert’ we might have to just go
  • told clients at the beginning of meetings the same – “if I have to go I just will, thank you for understanding”
  • shared with friends, family and connections a bit about what’s going on (and often on social media for energy saving AND for potentially helping others)

As ever, I’m always looking for the lesson in situations both for myself to learn and for me to share with you .

I couldn’t summarise the lesson Snowy & I have learned recently better than Donald Rumsfeld…

 In other news…

This is how I’ve looked for about 10 days!

This was Jeffrey, yesterday.  Fed up he wasn’t out and about ie a great sign!
